Sorry about that last post we are all fine. There has been some really emotional things going on though, I hope I am able to talk about it I will try to explain....
Our schools are in a crisis, the funding from the National level has been cut back because see we have to pay for Corporate CEO's to receive insane amounts of money so they don't have to change their lifestyle, but our children are going to suffer. Information coming from the State is scaring all of the school board members into believing finds will not produced. As a result Clay County Schools have been forced to make cuts. I understand that this is part of the times we are living in and everybody has to live on a budget, yes that I understand, what I don't understand is the choice of our Principle. The Board of Education suggested to all Principles to cut one P.E. teacher and one Elective teacher or Regular Studies Teacher. All of the schools in the district did that. One Assistant Principle took early retirement in order to save his teachers. One Principle took larger pay cuts in order in keep his teachers. The rest cut the 2 teachers. All except for Paterson's Principle. Our Principle cut Art, Music (this includes weekly classes, Chorus, School Musicals, visiting groups etc), and 10 additional Teachers. 12 in all. 12! We are losing an Art teacher who proudly puts on a bi-yearly Art show displaying the works for her students. A Music Teacher who's Musical's are known throughout the community as refreshing delightful family entertainment. The TEACHER OF THE YEAR for last school year. Along with all of the other Educators our children can not afford to live without.
Last night at the Board Meeting where Parents were able to speak, out Principle was not there. Our Principle has not even told most of these people they are losing their job. They found out from the Board. Our Principle is a coward who this morning removed signs I put out in order to inform parents, and is refusing to speak with me.
I can not and will not sit back and let these children lose out on some of the best experiences in school. Florida pays more per Prisoner to be comfortable in jail then they do per Child in school. If Florida was to eliminate it's FCAT testing and replace it with a Standard testing format like the rest of the Nation we would save 43 million dollars. Our Board of Eduction Members are payed no less the 35,000 a year for a part time job, where most states it is a Volunteer Position. Hurricane Notification costs the school 7 million a year, why don't they just watch the news?
This is such a horrifying example of Bureaucratic Bullshit. Our Principle is so worried about his test scores and budget numbers he is willing to sacrifice the education of my child, and all the children I love and I will not stand for this.

I am sorry to hear you are going through all this. That really stinks. If it makes you feel any better ... your kids are still getting a better education than my kids will. Utah schools have nothing on Florida schools!!! =)
I am sorry, some people just don't get it!! Our kids are the future, I am proud of you for standing up...you are a great mom!!!
