Ode to Uncle Steve.....

This is very personal and I hope I don't hurt the feelings of my family, that is not my intention.

My Uncle has Cancer again. I remember last time he was sick my Dad would give me the updates and would explain all of his trials. Then he got better. I saw him at my step-sisters wedding and he was the same man I remember. His big smile and goofy laugh. I sat with him for an hour catching up on his family, his kids who I always considered being the closest too of all of my cousins, and filling me in on how he felt. Now I realize what an important memory it is to me. I am glad he got to meet my kids. Well, as I have being reading on my cousins blog's the outlook is not good. My cousin mentioned they need a Miracle. Some times the Lord will take someone in his hands and give them a miracle. I know because I have received one.

This is something I NEVER talk about. I can not even think about without tears welling up in my eyes. You all know my son was born early. He was very underdeveloped, and very sick. He suffered from Jaundice, Bradicardia and worst of all Arterial Septal Defect or ASD. Living for two weeks in his Isolate helped him grow out of Jaundice and the Bradicardia. When he was released from the hospital his Cardiologist kept Ben in his care to monitor the ASD. What we knew was ASD was a defect in the heart when there is an opening in the Atrial Septum. Ben's ASD hole was measured at 5cm or like the doctor explained the size of 5 dimes stacked on top of each other. The doctor expected the hole to get smaller as Ben grew but knew that surgery would be necessary around 2 years of age.
Every 3 months I would go downtown to the Cardiologist to make sure Ben's heart was functioning as well as it could. When Ben was 18mos old, Dave and I sat in the exam room waiting for the results of the latest SCAN. Unlike all of the other appointments this time the doctor himself came in. Dave and I were immensely worried and feared the worst. I still remember the words that came out of his mouth " I am going to release Ben from my care". As we listened to the Doctor he told us we have received a Miracle. Benjamin's hole was entirely closed up. The doctor had only seen this one other time, and the child was much older when the hole closed up. Ben was better. He was fine. He was a Miracle.
Nothing Medical Science did for Ben made him better, they had no chance. Ben was chosen by God.
Dear Family, I hope that you knowing of my Miracle will give you even more Faith in the hands of God. Miracles happen every moment. I pray that you will be receiving one of your own.

Thanks for sharing that, Erica. I'm glad your little boy is all right. Thanks for keeping my dad in your prayers.

That was beautiful. I'm so glad you shared it. I am also worried and praying for Uncle Steve. Funny- I always thought of that family as the one I was closest to, too! They must have done a good job of getting together with loved ones. Something I hope for my kids. Anyway, I'm so glad you had a miracle. I also had one- I'll have to share it with you sometime.
