I know, I know. But, here me out. The Mom is my neighbors and this cat is completely neglected, so bad that he didn't even know his cat had kittens until I was banging on the door. So My friend and I spotted them and as we were looking at them I noticed fleas on their face. I picked one up and fleas crawled onto me. These cats were literally dripping with fleas. Oh, I was livid. This poor Mamma cat has had litter after litter, in fact there are 4 cats over there from the last litter she had, and I guess this guy is just waiting for someone to call the pound. Anyway, I was so mad so I ran home and got my cat crate and started collecting them. I found 4 of I think 5. I need to go back and search for the other one. The Momma basically had these kittens and then left them, I don't even think she cleaned the afterbirth off of them. So, when I got home I flea dipped (twice)them all, and gave them a good bath. After they were dry and I got the kids to bed I stayed up all night picking the fleas that didn't wash off, off.
I talked to my Vet and she donated some dewormer so that was super helpful. After talking to the Vet we decided it is better for these babies to be taken from their Mom (who is flea ridden and maingy), and hand nursed...so yep, that goes to me. I don't care that is so totally time consuming, I can't live with those kittens going back over there. Plus, I took some of my Flea medicine for my cat over to the owner to put on the Mamma and told him I would flea dip that Mamma if he wasn't going to do it, and I told him to find a low cost Spay program and make an appointment and I would take the cat in and even pay for it, we'll see what happens.
So if you want a kitten....
