While they were living in Florida Karen and her husband took a trip and asked my Mom to pick up their mail. Every night Ben and my Mom would ride to get the mail. When Karen got home she gave Ben a little Monster Truck, thus starting Ben's love of Monster Trucks.
There are no words to describe Karen. She was unwavering in her Faith and loved working as the Relief Society President in her Ward and loved each Member. Each year she worked her fingers to the bone making delicious cookies and candies, one of which I referred to as "those damn Carmel's", because I couldn't eat just one I had to eat the WHOLE bag, and passing them out to the family.
The amount of our loss is immeasurable. I can not possibly say enough about Karen and how much we will miss her red hair, bright red lips and perfect finger nails.
If losing Karen was not enough my Mom broke her foot and possibly tore her tendons on Monday night. So we tried to stay mellow the rest of the week and just make it through school and work.
Ben had a great first week of school. He learned Seahorses have pouches just like Kangaroos and Uno is One in Spanish. To reward the kids for doing so well in school the kids had sleepovers on Friday night.
No Soccer games this Saturday because of Labor Day Weekend so nothing to report there. Saturday night Dave and I went on a date, first one in months. We went to dinner and then I wanted to see 500 Days of Summer and Dave wanted to see Taking Woodstock so we agreed on...
It was very good. Most of the movie is in Subtitles but it is still easy to understand.
Monday Dave was working so I thought it was a good idea to go have lunch with him. He is working on a Farm about 50 miles away. So I thought the kids could run around the farm for an hour then we would head home. Upon arriving I realized the trip was not going to be as planned. The kids were in heaven, so much so that we had to go buy Fishing Poles. What was supposed to be a small lunch with Daddy turned into a day trip. Dave's cousin and his family arrived too turning it into a fun family day by default.
The second Ben threw his line in he got a bite. It was crazy fast, but then Ben expected it to be that easy the rest of the time...not so much, and Taylor was frustrated because she didn't catch anything. As we were getting ready to leave I went to collect the poles and for fun I threw out Taylor's pole and what would happen...I got a bite. I hate fishing so I screamed for Dave to come and get the thing off of the line and throw it back in the lake.
Here is my catch...
Here is Ben's catch, which he said "I want to take it home and fry it up". We only catch and release!

Erica! I'm so glad to have found you through blogging. Your kids are beautiful and you seem to be doing well! I'm sorry about Dave's aunt. She sounds wonderful. Thank you for your advice on my kitchen. My husband keeps saying we are not doing anything--he wants to move. I'd rather stay and remodel. We'll see..say hit to your mom for me!
