Accepting the Squash....

One of the bad things about having had Breast Cancer is I have to get a Mammogram every 6 months. It sucks if you have perfectly healthy boobs that have not been cut upon, shot with chemo and radiated and it sucks even worse if your boobie is sore from receiving all of the above.
I had been nervous all weekend because for the past couple of weeks my boob has been hard and sore in one place and Dave said it looked a little swollen. This morning I woke up with a pit in my stomach and felt uneasy all morning.
After I got my Mammogram the Tech told me I had to wait for the doctor to read the slides and if everything looked ok I could go. After what seemed like forever the Tech came back and said I had to have an ultrasound. Gulp!!
I was asking a million questions as the doctor did the ultrasound and found out that he just wanted an ultrasound today so in 6 months he would have one to compare it to and watch for changes.
He also said my scars and incision areas look beautiful and that he has seen some incision areas all hacked up but mine was clean and "looked great". He also told me that the hardness in my breast is from radiation damage and is completely normal. He went on to say that he sees some women with tissue "as hard as a large rock".
I can not express how relieved I was when I left that appointment today. I honestly can not believe how well all of my tests have been coming back. I feel so blessed to have such a clean bill of health so soon after treatment. As I walked out the thick double doors of the Imaging Center this is what I saw...

Thank you Mommy for the beautiful comfort.
